Montefalco Rosso is a smooth and articulate wine with Lungarotti's signature. A Montefalco DOC label with a decisive character, like that of the grapes from which it originates, Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino; it creates a special harmony between the senses when served with house antipasti, ragout-based first courses, cooked artichokes, lamb and grouper.

More info

Lungarotti's Montefalco Rosso is a full-bodied wine, ruby in colour with bright violet tones. Its intense aroma recalls notes of cocoa and green spices, cloves and cinnamon, with a finish of wild berries and plum jam. Its taste is harmonious and balanced, with soft, ripe tannins and a lingering, moderately austere aftertaste.

Made from Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino grapes, grown in the Montefalco terroir and trained on a double spurred cordon system, Montefalco Rosso is fermented in steel, with maceration on the skins for about twenty days. This is followed by one year in barriques and small barrels and six months in the bottle before arriving on our tables.

It goes perfectly with fish, red meats and legumes: in particular, tegamaccio of lake fish, suckling pig in porchetta, spelt and legume soup, lamb offal, gnocchetto with Chianina meat sauce perfumed with thyme, grilled or trifoliated porcini mushrooms.

Lungarotti Montefalco Rosso wine is softer and easier to drink than Sagrantino, thanks to the variety of grapes used to make it. Moreover, it has been awarded a DOC in its own right. Its label depicts a view of the Montefalco winery and in the foreground the falcon symbol of the area of origin.
