A wine with a structured and full-bodied temperament, the red Monfortino Riserva Barolo DOCG is part of the Giacomo Conterno label collection. It is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the terroir of Serralunga d'Alba (CN), where for years the winery has dedicated itself to producing wines that highlight, with its own style, the qualities of the selected grape varieties. The notes of flavour that the Monfortino Riserva wine delineates on the palate are enhanced by culinary combinations with red meats, roasts, stews, game and very tasty foods.

More info

The Barolo Monfortino Riserva 2013 is a true myth among Piedmontese red wines, a bottle that has rewritten the history of Barolo, an Italian milestone to be handed down and preserved over time. The first Monfortino label was born in 1924 in the vineyards located in the Cuneo area, in Monforte d'Alba and then moved a few decades later to the Serralunga d'Alba estates.

The first fermentation takes place in 61 hectolitre oak vats, the grapes undergo a long maceration of at least 5 weeks on the skins with temperatures reaching 32 °C. At the end of the process, the Monfortino is transferred into large Austrian wooden barrels where it is aged for at least 7 years.

In Barolo Giacomo Conterno the exceptional luminosity of the garnet red goblet immediately stands out. The scents that emerge on the nose have a floral bouquet, incense and liquorice with a background of leather and earth. The taste is strong, unscrupulous, a sip of exquisite elegance sweetened by the soft fruity caresses. It perfectly accompanies game dishes and mature cheeses.
