Chiarandà Donnafugata is an enveloping, smooth and full-bodied Chardonnay produced in Sicily. The name is linked to the vineyard from which the grapes come; Chiarandà del Merlo is located on the Contessa Entellina estate in Palermo.
Like every Donnafugata wine, Chiarandà brings back typical elements of its land not only in taste. On the label, prickly pears and palms, characteristic of Sicily, decorate the woman; the aim is always to best express the complex yet extraordinary character of the island. This wine achieves this with an astonishing aromatic richness, partly inherited from the best 100% Chardonnay grapes, harvested at night.
Chiarandà is a fresh, aromatic and evocative white wine that offers multiple sensations on the nose; the bouquet is complex, made up of notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, wild flowers and, lastly, hazelnuts and butter deriving from the long ageing process. In the mouth it is well structured, savoury and mineral, with a long persistence. Donnafugata's Chiarandà amazes with its great capacity for ageing.
Served at 10 - 12 °C, the Chiarandà white wine is excellent with fish dishes, especially smoked fish and shellfish, vegetable soups.
