More info

Rubesco is a Torgiano DOC red wine with a balanced body and ruby colour. Its aroma is typically spicy, with definite hints of pepper, tobacco and a finish of red jam and violets. It is very pleasant on the palate, with good concentration, ripe and harmonious tannins and a fruity aftertaste.

The Lungarotti winery makes its Rubesco wine from Sangiovese and Colorino grapes, grown in the Torgiano terroir, trained on the spurred cordon system and harvested between September and October, then fermented in steel, with maceration on the skins for fifteen days. Finally, the Lungarotti wine matures for one year in casks and one in bottles, after a light filtration.

The Rubesco Lunagrotti goes perfectly with robust first courses, grilled red meats, game and noble poultry.

Having contributed to the recognition of the Torgiano DOC in 1968, Rubesco is the most popular of the Lungarotti wines. Its name is a fancy brand name derived from the Latin verb 'rubescere', to blush. Its label features a bas-relief of a grape harvest with a detail of Perugia's Fontana Maggiore.
